De Nintendo DS is Nintendo's laatste handheld, een vervolg op de Gameboy Advance. Op 15 juli 2008 kondigde Rockstar Games aan dat er een nieuwe GTA voor op de Nintendo DS uit komen zal: Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars.
